RKMS offer a wide range of Social, Health and Childcare Certified courses from Highfield, City & Guilds and the NCFE – the Northern Council for Further Education.

Paediatric First Aid – Level 3 Award

Paediatric First Aid (level 3) is designed for those in the workplace working to become a Paediatric First Aider. This is suitable for employees with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children.

First aid is the responsibility of everyone involved in the working environment. Topics within this course are regarded by the Early Years Foundation Stage as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health of infants and children who are under the care of trained personnel.

This qualification meets the requirements for Paediatric First Aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014.

How The Course Works

Group activities and discussion with assessment by a practical and theoretical test. Participants will be able to understand the importance of:

– Understanding the roles & responsibilities of a paediatric first aider, assessing an emergency situation safely & maintaining adequate record keeping
– Providing first aid for in a range of situations including, minor injuries, injuries to the eyes, ears and nose, burn & scalds, bites, stings, poisoning, breathing difficulties, shock, bleeding and unresponsive infants & children

Emergency First Aid At Work – Level 3 Award

This qualification is ideal for those already working, or preparing to work within industry wishing to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

Topics covered include: the roles and responsibilities of the First Aider; assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness, chest injuries, spinal injuries and anaphylaxis.

How The Course Works

Safeguarding – Level 2 Award

The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace. Learners may be working, or wishing to work, with children and young people. This includes those in voluntary or unpaid roles.

The qualification covers how to safeguard and protect children, young people and practitioners in the workplace as well as how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused. Children are those aged below 16 and young people are those aged between 16 and 18.

Fire Safety – Level 2 Award

The Level 2 Award in Fire Safety is a qualification aimed at anyone involved in the management of fire safety in any workplace.

This includes managers, supervisors, team leaders, fire wardens (marshals) and staff working in any area where there is a potential risk of fire.

Food Safety Level 2 Award
