Why Do I Need a Fire Risk Assessment?

You are legally required to have a fire risk assessment in place if you are an employer, owner or occupier of premises that aren’t a ‘single private dwelling’ (a private home). You must ensure that a suitably competent person performs a fire risk assessment. it is your duty to identify fire hazards and risk and take appropriate action.

If you employ 5 or more people, or your business has a licence under enactment in force, you’ll need your fire risk assessment to be a written record.
