User Management: Permissions

Overview

  • How the use of groups can be used to set permissions on files and folders.

In order to protect data within the system, you may wish to restrict access to certain files or folders. To do this, you will need to set permissions on the file or folder. If permissions are set on a file or folder, only users within the permissions set will be able to access the file or folder.

Folder Permissions

  1. Drop down the Group Restrictions area within the folder you wish to set permissions for.
  2. Simply click the name of the group you wish to set permissions for.
  3. Now you can set the permissions of read only or edit access.
  4. To remove the group restriction, simply click the name of the group again.

File Permissions

  1. Select the file you wish to set permissions for.
  2. Under the Permissions tab at the top of the document you will be able to set permissions for inviduals or groups.
  3. Simply click the name of the group you wish to set permissions for.
  4. Now you can set the permissions of read only or edit access.
  5. To remove the group restriction, simply click the name of the group again.

Register Permissions

  1. Drop down the Group Restrictions area within the register you wish to set permissions for.
  2. Simply click the name of the group you wish to set permissions for.
  3. Now you can set the permissions of read only or edit access.
  4. To remove the group restriction, simply click the name of the group again.
